Flower Girls and Page Boys

Planning a super cute outfit for the fabulous flower girls and adorable page boys at your wedding offers up plenty of opportunities to make sure the little ones feel included.

At any wedding, there is nothing more adorable than seeing page boys and flower girls dressed up to the nines. From flowing tulle tutus to tailored suits and bow ties, you are spoilt for choice when it comes to darling outfits to kit the little ones out in for the big day.

Of course, it might take some stubborn little personalities some persuading before they try the miniature suits or dresses you have picked out for them, but once they get smart, they'll love  all the added attention from the adults.

Below are a few ways you can inject some extra style into your little helpers’ ensembles, as well as making sure they feel included in the festivities on the big day.

Set-up Gear

Kids are fantastic at picking up on the atmosphere around them, so it’s important to make sure they feel included in the excitement of the wedding morning as you build up towards the main ceremony. If you’re getting ready for the ceremony with your bridesmaids or ushers, there’s a high chance they will be wearing personalized ‘Bridesmaid’ dressing gowns or a ‘Best Man’ t-shirt. Get little ones in on the fun by having personalized outfits made up for them as well. Little girls will jump for joy when they see they have their own delightful ‘Flower Girl’ robe, and little lads will feel equally as cool as everyone else in a super suave ‘Ring Bearer’ t-shirt.

Sensibly Stylish

Couples saying their vows in a tropical setting – on one of Thailand’s beaches for example – can look forward to soaring temperatures on the big day. Like everyone else, little boys should be dressed for the occasion so they can stay cool whilst looking super smart. Few ensembles have a greater ‘awww!’ appeal than a pair of tailored linen shorts paired with a linen shirt and bow tie. Page boys could even be given their own waistcoats for the ceremony when the moment calls for a little more formal aesthetics, allowing them to easily shed layers for fun and games later on.

Button Holes with a Difference

While the groom and his groomsmen might be sporting delicate floral boutonnieres for the wedding celebrations, it would be foolish to expect your three-year old pageboy to do the same. In order to avoid having a delicate floral buttonhole crunched to smithereens, give him a special boutonniere that also makes him feel ultra-special. Cute sheriff-style badges for page boys and ring bearer are a great choice. They also provide a badge for an important job, which means you will have one well behaved ring bearer.

Pretty as a Princess

It’s every little girl’s dream to be a flower girl. After all, when you’re five years old there’s nothing better than dressing up in a fabulous gown and pretending to be a princess. Frocks with flowing tulle skirts have the wow factor little princesses are after, and the bigger the better. If you want little ones to be free to paddle around in the sea after the ceremony, then consider investing in tutu style dresses that don’t fall all the way to the floor. That way, flower girl princesses will stay cool and have the freedom of movement for some post-ceremony paddling on the beach.

Small Accessories, Big Fun

After picking out the gowns for your angelic flower girls, it’s time to select the extras that will inject a little more fun into their role. Rather than flowers, have little ladies carry their own wands down the aisle instead. If you’re searching for activities to keep kids entertained, then prior to the ceremony, let them personalize their own wands with different coloured ribbons and stickers. Other adorable accessories for little princesses to choose from include floral crowns, sparkly shoes and – if you really want to go all out – fairy wings.
