Island Bachelor Parties

Not only does Thailand provide the perfect setting for idyllic destination weddings; the Land of Smiles also offers  an excellent range of options for exciting bachelor parties. Islands like Koh Samui and Phuket offer a vast range of daytime activities, with a choice of food, bars and entertainment that will make your stag night one to remember.

While many grooms-to-be may have been shocked by the Bangkok bachelor party depicted in the 2011 movie “The Hangover II”, the reality of celebrating one last night of single life in Thailand can actually quite different. For those that want to stretch their stag-do into a whole day or even a weekend of fun and action, islands like Koh Samui and Phuket offer a range of exhilarating activities to get the adrenaline pumping well before the excitement of the big day.

Following a day of thrills and adventures, beach destinations also offer an endless range of evening entertainment. Guys who want to immerse themselves in Thai culture can take in some Thai Boxing, while those who enjoy an evening of live music are spoilt for choice with bands and DJs playing nightly at bars and clubs in all the main beach areas.

The choices for pre-wedding funnier endless. Below are a but a few suggestions to get the party started.

Leap of faith

Daredevil grooms and their pals may want to spice up their pre-wedding holiday by taking the plunge with a 50m bungee jump. Phuket’s Jungle Lagoon in Kathu has a 50m drop, set over a small lake surrounded by abundant vegetation. Samui Bungee Jump is equally exciting and jumpers can try their best to take in the sights and sounds of nearby Chaweng Beach as they plummet towards Southern Thailand’s deepest swimming pool.

Four wheel adventure

Guys that don’t like heights may prefer to up the excitement levels by tearing through the jungle on an ATV (All Terrain Vehicle) with their groomsmen in hot pursuit. Quad biking tours across Phuket or Samui rattle along mini off-road trails, down narrow paths and plough right over streams and natural obstacles, taking in much of the island’s magnificent scenery as they go. ATV tours are a great way to explore and usually include transfers to and from your place of accommodation, in addition to some refreshments. Paintballing is another great activity for bachelors on tour, providing men with a chance to showcase their cunning, tactical skills and physical endurance. Hunting down your enemy within the lush island jungle offers an extra challenge and level of excitement. All equipment and insurance is generally included as part of the package.

Seafood Feast

After a gruelling day of quad biking and paint balling, before heading out to party the night away, a barbecue feast around the pool of a private villa is a great way to re-boot your energy levels. Islands like Koh Samui and Phuket are famed for the sumptuous seafood they offer, which includes king prawns, crabs and lobsters that can sizzle away on the barbecue as the gents enjoy a few ice cold beers to kick off the evening festivities.

Sophisticated Surroundings

Gentlemen in search of an upscale bachelor party should head to one of the chic beach clubs or bars that are sprinkled along the coasts of Phuket and Koh Samui. Located right on the sand kissed shores, beach clubs combine stylish restaurants with elegant bars and live DJs spinning the beats. Beach clubs are also a great choice for stags that want to sample a few top quality cocktails just metres from the lapping waves.

Out on the town

For gents that don’t want to stray too far from a traditional night out on the town for their bachelor party, Phuket’s Patong area and Samui’s Chaweng Beach are definitely the places to go for the most vibrant nightlife. Both of these buzzing party zones are home to far more than bars and clubs, although a huge variety of these are also on offer in abundance. One of Samui’s top nightlife attractions, Muay Thai (or Thai boxing), takes place nightly at two stadiums near Chaweng Lake. The blood, sweat and tears begin at 9pm and usually continue until around midnight. On Phuket, Patong is a great destination for live music, and there are usually performances every night of the week if you pick out the venues beforehand. If you are a die-hard rock music fan, Patong’s Hard Rock Café is the place to go with a rock anthem soundtrack and comfortable surroundings.
