Pre-wedding Retail Therapy in Thailand

Submitted by CLX-view on October 10, 2016

If you need to pick up a few last minute accessories before your tropical wedding, there are plenty of opulent malls in the Land of Smiles that stock everything you need and more.

While gleaming golden beaches and superb weather attract the majority of brides and grooms to Thailand, the selection of impressive retail facilities in the Kingdom is yet another bonus for husbands and wives-to be.

Whether you’re tying the knot in idyllic Samui or spectacular Phuket, you will be  spoilt for choice when it comes to shopping options. And if you’re planning on spending a few days in capital city Bangkok before you head down to the islands, you’ll have an even greater array of designer stores and irresistible boutiques at your fingertips.

For last minute make-up and accessories or gifts and additions to your wedding décor scheme, below is a list of top shopping malls in Thailand.

Lux in the City

Home to a wealth of high-end fashion brands, Siam Paragon is a sparking example of a shopper’s paradise. This is the perfect destination for shoppers who have plenty of cash to splurge on bigger purchases – perhaps a designer bikini for that post-wedding pool party? Or the perfect set of diamond earrings to match your dress? From Hermes and Prada to Louis Vuitton and Chanel, Siam Paragon has all the designer labels you could dream of getting your hands on – and in plentiful supply. The mall also accommodates Southeast Asia’s largest aquarium – the perfect stop for your partner and the kids while you browse around the shops.

Designers Galore

EmQuartier, one of Bangkok’s newest luxury malls, is a spectacular sight to behold. This luxurious shopping centre opened in March 2015 and is located in the Phrom Pong region of the city. Once again, well-heeled visitors are catered for with a plethora of designer brands in addition to a wealth of restaurants and coffee shops – and even an atrium garden with its own waterfall. In addition to the likes of Gucci, Dior and Jimmy Choo there are high street brands such as Zara and Uniqlo. Nearby Benjasiri Park provides a green, shady place to relax once you’re able to shop no more.

City Shop-athon

For seasoned shoppers who have plenty of stamina, the lavish Emporium mall sits just across Sukhumvit Road – the main artery that runs through Bangkok – from EmQuartier. This gleaming six-storey space is also home to a wealth of designer stores including Chanel, Cartier and Mont Blanc. It’s the ideal place to pick up your last minute holiday outfits before heading down to Phuket or Koh Samui, and the food hall there offers a splendid array of tasty treats that shouldn’t be missed. There’s also the Emporium Department Store for those that simply want to have a browse around until something takes their fancy. It’s also a top place to pick up cosmetics, with brands including Lancome, Mac and Estee Lauder all available.

Retail Pearl of the Andaman

It’s the day before your wedding and you suddenly realise you left your ‘something blue’ back home in chilly Europe. There’s no need to panic as Phuket is home to an array of retail opportunities – the most expansive of which is Central Festival Phuket. Situated just on the edge of Phuket Town, this mall is a one-stop-shop for everything you could possibly need, from traditional Thai silk goods to electronics. The mall is also home to a mall and plenty of restaurants, so it’s easy enough to spend a full day here enjoying all of the facilities to the maximum.

Shopping in the Tropics

Stretching across 90,000 square metres of prime retail space, Central Festival Samui is one of the island’s newest offerings when it comes to shopping. The three-storey complex is split into four themed sections which draw their inspiration from the island’s culture and history – Chaweng Port, Bird Cage, Fisherman Village and Beach Town Market. There are shops and restaurants galore, in addition to a large landscaped area outside, complete with a kids’ play zone to entertain little ones. You can get your hands on pretty much anything you want here, from clothes and jewellery to electronics and stationery supplies.
