Top Locations for a Pre-wedding Photo Shoot
As well as helping you get to know your photographer, a pre-wedding photo shoot in Thailand will provide yet another fantastic memento of your tropical wedding in paradise.
Whether you’re already happy posing for the camera or get a little shy, organising a pre-wedding photo shoot can be a great way to practice having your picture taken as a couple before the wedding day comes along.
Your photographer will be able to give you some tips about how to position yourself so you look naturally fabulous. However, when it comes to any photo shoot, location is key.
If you’re a confident couple then a busy urban setting might work well. If you’re getting married on a tropical island like Phuket or Koh Samui, there’s plenty of choice when it comes to backdrops.
Below is a selection of great location ideas.
Beach Beautiful
Thanks to their soft carpets of golden sand, glistening turquoise seas and gently swaying palms, Phuket and Koh Samui provide an excellent backdrop for any pre-wedding photo-shoot. For the best lighting and exquisite colours of the sky, sunrise and sunset are often some of the most popular times of day to have these photographs taken. Samui’s remote Lipa Noi beach is slightly off the beaten tourist track, and offers the perfect place for a photo shoot near the ocean. Over on Phuket, Ao Sane features three mini-beaches, each of which is home to craggy boulders, smooth sand and groves of almond trees. It’s also a fairly quiet spot to strike a pose.
One with Nature
If you’re getting married in one of Thailand’s lavish private rental villas, seize the chance to make the most of the spectacular facilities. In addition to beach access and a sprawling sun terrace, many villas also come with their own beautifully manicured gardens – which could provide the perfect session for your pre-wedding photography session. Many of the villa gardens also feature traditional Thai artwork and statues, which is ideal to add some extra interest to your images alongside the cascades of tropical flora and fauna.
Tropical Sensations
If your heart is set on pre-wedding photographs with a difference, why not hike into the heart of Phuket or Koh Samui’s emerald interiors for your shoot? In addition to all the greenery, both islands are home to some supremely beautiful waterfalls, which are great for adding drama and movement to your shots. If you’re staying on Phuket , Bang Pae Waterfall in Khao Phra Thaeo Park is on the east coast north of Phuket Town. Over in Koh Samui, the Na Muang falls in the south comprise two glorious plumes of water, cascading down a rocky, stepped surface – the perfect backdrop for a stunning shoot.
In the Lap of Luxury
If jungles simply aren’t your thing, then perhaps surroundings that ooze a little more sophisticated wow factor will suit. Home to a plethora of elegant superyachts and brand new modern residences, the marinas on Phuket’s eastern seaboard may be just the place. These luxury lifestyle marinas are also home to plenty of leisure and shopping facilities, as well as some charming landscaped gardens. Ultimately, such locations will leave you and your photographer spoilt for choice.
Colour Infusions
If you’re getting married on Phuket, head over to the island’s Old Town for colourful photographs with a quirky backdrop. This historically-rich heart of the island is home to shrines, temples and a maze of winding streets – all set off by a colourful array of traditional shophouses. Magenta, jade and peach colours provide a dramatic rainbow of colour around every corner. The traditional architecture of these quaint buildings will add extra Thai character to your wedding shoot. For a similar feel on Koh Samui, head to Bophut Fisherman’s Village or Nathon Town.
