Top Table Ideas for your Wedding Feast

Couples that need inspiration to come up with a unique, personal theme for the table plan on your big day will find plenty of ideas in the wedding-sphere.

Planning where all your friends and loved ones are positioned when they sit down for your wedding feast can be one of the trickiest tasks a bride and groom have to face together.

However, there are some ways to inject fun into this challenging task, and one of them is coming up with unique themes and ideas for your dining table layout.

Table plans are a great way to add a little extra personality to your day, and they are must-do if you want the celebration to reflect your personal tastes as a couple.

If you’re struggling for inspiration, below are a few favourite ideas.

Sweets for my Sweet

If both you and your husband/bride-to-be have something of a sweet tooth, then why not name each of your tables after your favourite sugary treats? Not only does this give you the room to make your table plan extra fun and unique, but you can go to town when creating the personalised centrepieces that will signify to guests which table it is. Pick n’ mix sweeties are also bursting with colours and textures, so opting for a theme like this will add extra visual excitement to the big day.

Tell your Story

Whether your guests have known you for two years or twenty, they may not know all too much about your story as a couple. If you’re a sentimental pair, then take guests on a journey of all your treasured memories together – you could even name tables after dates that were particularly meaningful to you as a couple. If you’re going for a quirky, vintage look then consider writing down your date and memory centrepieces on a chalkboard – or even chalk board effect the candles. That way, you get something that’s quick to do and looks fabulous.

Travel Inspiration

If you’re getting married in Thailand, it’s likely that any guests who have jetted out to see you say your vows will be tying in a holiday of their own. If they have only just arrived in the Kingdom, why not give them some inspiration of the must-see sights? You could name each table after something special to see in Thailand, from the fabulous Big Buddha statue in Koh Samui to the mystical panorama of Phang Nga Bay. You could use photos to depict these fantastic sites, or even maps if you’re going for an old-fashioned, vintage appeal.

Beside the Seaside

For couples that have opted to say their vows with the sand between their toes and the ocean breeze blowing back their hair, a beach-themed table plan seems apt. For a retro seaside feel, you could name your tables after fun beachy things like sandcastles, starfish or even ice cream. Perhaps you will also be able to collect bits and bobs from the beach before you get married like this bride and groom have – the guests’ names look fabulous written on pebbles from the beach where they got married.

Your Favourite Tipple

If you and your loved one enjoy a glass of wine every now and then, it’s likely that you will have amassed several favourite vinos over the years that you’ve been together. What better way to celebrate your tastes than to name each table after the produce of your favourite vineyards? From crisp white bottles of chardonnay to deep, full-bodied merlot, the choice is yours. The best part is, you and your partner will have to share a few bottles of all your favourite wines in advance of the wedding in order to make the centrepieces.
