Thailand named top romantic destination for 2018
Thailand was recently selected as one of the top 10 honeymoon destinations for 2018 by Harper’s Bazaar. The kingdom was ranked in fifth position as one of the world’s most sought-after choices for newlyweds.
According to the report, Thailand’s attraction lies in the diversity of experiences it offers. Newlyweds looking for a romantic break can head to the stunning heartlands of the Thai countryside, or to the gleaming beaches for a relaxing, sun-soaked private villa retreat.
Thailand was also praised for its intriguing array of fascinating cultural attractions, including Buddhist temples, lively street markets and top-notch museums. The kingdom’s eclectic culinary repertoire is also one of the top factors likely to attract newly-weds, with dining experiences ranging from upscale eateries to rustic street food stalls.
In addition to its diverse range of attractions, Thailand also boasts a world-class selection of high-end accommodation choices. While many visitors choose to stay in one of the international hotels, an increasing number of newlyweds – keen to enjoy some romance and privacy – are booking into one of Thailand’s private villas.
Many of Thailand’s villas are positioned in popular tourism hotspots like Koh Samui and Phuket, which offer either dramatic ocean views or direct access to the beach. The luxury villas range considerably in size, spanning from chic three-bedroom apartments in luxury resort complexes, to mansion-style properties with eight bedrooms and multiple swimming pools. What most villas do have in common is the excellent level of personalized service offered to guests. Each villa’s dedicated team of staff is on-hand to ensure that guests don’t have to lift a finger throughout their trip – a desirable advantage for couples on their honeymoon.
In addition to being sought-after choices for travellers on a romantic honeymoon getaway, Thailand’s villas also serve as spectacular wedding venues for many brides and grooms keen to tie the knot in an exotic location. In fact, a growing number of couples are incorporating their wedding and honeymoon into a single trip, using a luxury private villa as their base.
Thailand’s destination wedding sector has enjoyed considerable growth over the past several years, thanks in large part to the stunning setting that brides and grooms can have for their big day. Destination weddings are a key part of the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s (TAT’s) marketing strategy for 2018, as they seek to entice more couples to its stunning shores.
