Celebrity Wellness Weddings Hit Thailand
Australian nutritionist Jessica Sepel recently tied the knot with her partner Dean Steingold at a “wellness wedding” on Phuket. In fact, health and wellness themed weddings are the latest of the many nuptial trends to arrive in Thailand, and it looks as though they’re set to grow in popularity this year.
This particular happy, healthy couple are seen as an inspiration for many brides and grooms around the world, showing that it’s perfectly possible to host a healthy wedding ceremony where nutritious meals, gentle exercise and even green juices are all on the agenda.
Guests at the wedding, which took place at a resort on Phuket’s Cape Yamu – also home to some exclusive luxury holiday homes – were invited to take part in sunrise yoga sessions and quench their thirst with organic wine.
Throughout the couple’s stay on Phuket, Sepel also shared photographs from the couple’s wedding adventure on social media, posting stunning images of the island’s dramatic seascapes and tropical jungle. Daily yoga practice and healthy meals such as string bean and coconut salads were some of the additional healthy indulgences that Sepel shared with her friends and followers.
An increasing number of couples are seeking to personalize their wedding ceremonies, and Thailand is proving the ideal destination for those that want to add a green and wholesome slant on the celebration.
For brides and grooms getting married in one of the private villas in Phuket or Koh Samui, customizing the wedding to incorporate a range of healthy features is simple.
The couple can choose to start the day off with sunrise yoga, as Sepel did, or perhaps set a healthy example by swimming a few laps in their villa’s private pool.
Thailand’s wealth of first rate spas and wellness centres also means wedding guests can enjoy a range of detoxifying treatments in advance of the ceremony to ensure they are looking their best, or afterwards to recover from the organic wine. In terms of food, islands like Phuket and Koh Samui are famed for their fresh, organic produce – and Thai cuisine is packed with healthy ingredients that include everything from beneficial herbs to freshly caught seafood.
