Romantic Thailand Winners Wed

Six lucky couples who won the Tourism Authority's Romantic Thailand Contest, which included participants from Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), recently enjoyed fabulous wedding ceremonies and honeymoons in the Land of Smiles.

The romantic honeymoon trips took in many of Thailand’s most popular tourist attractions, including visits to exotic locations in Phuket and Krabi. The honeymoons will be aired as a unique TV show in each of the couples’ home countries, as well as being broadcast online.

The contest was launched in May 2015 when couples from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Russia and Ukraine were invited to participate in an online competition for the chance to win the fantastic prize. Dreaming of their fantasy wedding in the tropics, no less than 122 couples submitted their entries online.
“We would like to extend our warmest congratulations to the six winning couples. We are sure their stay in Thailand will leave them with a lifetime of wonderful memories,” said Juthaporn Rerngronasa, TAT Acting Governor and Deputy Governor for International Marketing (Europe, Africa, Middle East and Americas) at the closing ceremony, which took place in Bangkok.
After arriving in Bangkok and visiting treasured sights such as the Grand Palace, the couples travelled south to explore the delights of Phuket, Krabi and Phang Nga. Whilst in the South, the couples’ honeymoon schedules included a diverse array of activities including Muay Thai training, a traditional Baba wedding in Phuket Old Town and a trip to Krabi’s charming Railay Beach.

Thailand has already established a strong reputation as one of the leading destination wedding hotspots in the world. Rather than host their weddings in hotels, an increasing number of couples are opting to hire private rental villas to impress their families and guests. Renting a private villa also offers couples a greater degree of control over the planning of their wedding day, giving them the chance to design a bespoke ceremony that lives up to their fantasy celebration.
