Thailand Inspired Boyzone Proposal

Thailand Inspired Boyzone Proposal

Thailand’s global status as a romantic destination goes from strength to strength, and the country’s reputation as a top choice for destination weddings  is only helped by celebrities who choose the Kingdom for romance and their nuptials.

Recent news that former Boyzone singer and X Factor Australia judge, Ronan Keating, popped the question to girlfriend Storm Uechtritz in the Land of the Smiles quickly went viral online. Ronan, 38, allegedly proposed twice to Uechtritz – who, of course, said yes both times.

Whether it was Thailand’s blissful tropical climate or the stunning ocean vistas that inspired the singer to choose Thailand as the place to ask for his sweetheart’s hand is not known, but the former Boyzone frontman was reported to have been planning his proposal for some time. “We’ve been together a few years now and knew we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together,” Keating told the British press. “I felt it was the right time.”

The loved-up Irish singer even helped design the engagement ring, which features an oval diamond set in a diamond-encrusted band. While the first proposal took place on a romantic holiday in Thailand, Keating wanted to ensure his children were involved in the second proposal, which therefore took place in Ireland. “Some things in life were always meant to be… feeling blessed beyond words and grateful for marrying the love of my life,” tweeted Uechtritz shortly after the couple’s news went public.

A number of international celebrities have either opted to propose, say their vows of honeymoon in the Land of Smiles, while others have attendes the weddings of family and friends in the Kingdom. Australian supermodel Elle Macpherson, for example, chose a bohemian look when she attended her sister’s wedding in Thailand, which took place on the island of Koh Samui. The bride, Mimi, also went for a boho bride style and said her vows with the sand between her toes.

Meanwhile, model of the moment Cara Delevigne also celebrated a commitment ceremony to ex-girlfriend Michelle Rodriguez whilst on holiday in Thailand last year. Cara and Michelle were said to have taken part in a traditional Thai Baci ceremony at sunset. Unfortunately, the couple have since separated, with Cara now reportedly seeing American musician Annie Clark, better known as St. Vincent

Like so many other brides and grooms to be, it seems celebrity couples cannot resist the appeal of Thailand’s islands and beaches, which is why destination weddings now account for a significant percentage of the country’s tourism revenue, and new names and nationalities are being added to the guest list every year.
