Thailand Still Holds Wedding Crown

Thailand Still Holds Wedding Crown

Thanks to its tropical climate, first rate hospitality and top-notch venues and wedding agencies, Thailand’s destination wedding sector has already established a strong name for itself around the world.

The country's international wedding and honeymoon market was recently valued at THB30 billion (US892.5 million) in a report published by CNN, which amounts to approximately three percent of the Kingdom’s overall tourism revenue.

Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket and Koh Samui were listed as the most popular destinations for couples hosting weddings in Thailand,  and each destination now offers a variety  of options for couples in terms varying sizes and themes for their events.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) recognizes the value of the wedding tourism segment, which helps generate revenue for the Thai economy as a whole, through the tourism industry and also at grassroots level with direct demand for staff and services.

Thailand’s destination wedding sector has also been recognized with a number of

international accolades. This year alone, the Kingdom was named Asia’s Sexiest Romance/ Honeymoon Destination by US-based Recommend Magazine readers, and Fordors also voted the Land of Smiles the World’s Best Honeymoon Destination 2015.

Such recognition is definitely deserved, especially for couples seeking to combine their wedding celebrations with a romantic honeymoon. Many couples head for romantic island destinations like Koh Samui and Phuket to host their wedding ceremonies, and with each of these islands close to  smaller islands ripe for exploration, the options for discovering island gems of the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand are vast and varied.

Thailand’s  extensive portfolio of private rental villas is also becoming an increasingly popular choice for weddings, as they can accommodate the couple and their guests on an extended trip. The Kingdom’s larger private villas also offer an appealing selection of private facilities, which means couples, their families and friends not only enjoy a memorable wedding, but also a dream holiday in what is essentially their own private island resort.
